Field Day is a "contest" that entails contacting as many other participating Amateur Radio Stations. The emphasis is practicing communications in emergency situations and getting prospective or new hams on the air. http://www.arrl.org/field-day http://www.arrl.org/files/file/Field-Day/2013/2013%20FD%20Flier.pdf
